Angelica Maiuro “Our oceans are more in trouble than ever.” According the blog “protecting our oceans.” Fishing practices are destroying habitats and endangering species. Many plastic bags, bottles, and shopping bags often end up in the ocean and stay there for generations. According the article “Marine Pollution” by 2050 the ocean will hold more plastic than fish. Pollution comes in many forms, noise pollution in large bodies of water can carry sound waves for miles. The loud persistent sounds from ships, sonar devices, oil rigs, and even natural sounds such as earthquakes, can disrupt the migration, communication, hunting, and reproduction patterns of many marine animals. Plastic doesn't just affect the marine life but when the marine animals consume plastic the toxins are absorbed into their body and passed up the food chain. Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 mammals are killed each year. Luckily there is a way everyone can work together to help reduce pollution, the first thing you can do is stop using plastic water bottles, bring your own reusable grocery bags and use reusable containers.

My interest isn't just the ocean itself but I love boating and being able to drive a boat. I told my dad I was i…
